l964-l967 - Psychology. Social psychology course at the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada (I.S.P.A.), Lisbon, Portugal.

l973-l983 - Group analysis by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Grupanalise, of which is an effective member.

l982 - Course at the Mental Research Institute of Palo Alto, California, USA.

l985 - Training at the Instituto di Terapia Familiar di Roma, for one month, under the supervision of Professor Maurizio Andolfi.

l986 - Post graduation in Family Therapy at the Family Center of Berkshire, Massachusetts, USA.

l987 - Training with the Groupe de Recherche sur les Pratiques de Reseaux at the University of Montreal, under the supervision of Professor Claude Brodeur.

III. Professional activities:

l979 - Founding member of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Terapia Familiar.

l976-l983 - Team leader at the Centro de Acolhimento de Familias” do Centro de Estudos e da Profilaxia da Droga (CEPD).

l985-l987 - Invited as teacher by the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada (I.S.P.A.) to minister the subject on Family Therapy.

l984-l997 - Family therapy supervisor in the team of Centro de Acolhimento de Familias do Centro de Estudos e da Profilaxia da Droga (CEPD), Lisbon and Porto , at the Centro das Taipas in Lisbon and at the Centro de Acolhimento de Toxicodependentes (CAT) in Olhão, Algarve.

l982-l997 - Trainer of sistemic family therapists at the Sociedade Portuguesa de Terapia Familiar.
